Alumina aluminio oxidoa da (Al 2 O 3 ). Silizea eta alumina dira buztin eta esmalteen osagai garrantzitsuenak.
Aluminioa baino gogorrago da, eta urtze-puntua 2,072 °C (2,345 K) du, aluminioak ordea 660 °C (933 K) aldean.
