Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde am 19. Dezember 1931 durch das hessische Ministerium des Innern verliehen. Es ist abgeleitet vom Wappen der Freiherren von Kettenheim (ausgestorben 1662) welches einen schwarzen Pfahl zeigte. Der blaue Pfahl steht möglicherweise für die Wittelsbacher, den späteren Landesherren. Die Kette steht „redend“ für den Ortsnamen.
English: The arms were granted on December 19, 1931 and are derived from the arms of the 1662 extincted Lords of Kettenheim, who showed a pale sable on their shield. May be that the pale azure symbolises the later rulership of the Wittelsbach family. The chain (German = Kette) is canting for the name of the municipality.
