Inverness Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew (1866-69) is a cathedral of the Scottish Episcopal Church situated in the city of Inverness in Scotland. It is the seat of the Bishop of Moray, Ross and Caithness, ordinary of the Diocese of Moray, Ross and Caithness. The architect was Alexander Ross, who was based in the city. Construction began in 1866 and was complete by 1869, although a lack of funds precluded the building of the two giant spires of the original design. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inverness_Cathedral St Andrews Catherdal sits on the west bank of the river Ness, directly across from Ness Bank Church. Each Friday afternoon a group of local folk interested in hisotry and architecture go for a photo-walk around the city of Inverness (or its environs) and admire the scenery and buildings. This week we visited Ness Bank Church, and then climed the adjacent brae to Inverness Castle to enjoy the views from the Castle Hill. These are some of the photos I took en route. |
