Stema comunei Hălchiu, potrivit anexei nr. 1, se compune dintr-un scut triunghiular cu marginile rotunjite, tăiat. În partea superioară, în câmp roşu, se află două însemne stilizate aurii (un arc de cerc, aşezat pe o tălpice de sanie, tăiat în pal de o săgeată cu două vârfuri). În vârful scutului, în câmp de aur, se află bustul unui cavaler, purtând un buzdugan pe umărul drept, iar în mâna stângă un glob de aur. Mobila centrală este însoţită dreapta-stânga de două cruciuliţe, cu braţele egale. Scutul este timbrat de o coroană murală de argint cu un turn crenelat. Semnificaţiile elementelor însumate: Însemnele stilizate aurii reprezintă vechiul semn de marcaj al animalelor şi ocupaţia de bază a locuitorilor, creşterea animalelor; numărul lor indică numărul satelor componente ale comunei. Cavalerul este eroul eponim din legenda întemeierii comunei, al cărui nume medieval a fost “Heldsdorf” (Satul Eroului). Coroana murală cu un turn crenelat semnifică faptul că localitatea are rangul de comună.
