English: St Agnes: Wheal Kitty. Two Cornish engine houses and four stacks are evident in this view. And on the extreme right a glimpse of the Atlantic. The nearest building housed a 65-inch beam engine constructed by the Perran Foundry as a 60-inch in 1852 and installed here in 1910. Its function was to pump water from Saras Shaft and it was the last such engine at work in the district, ceasing operations in 1930. At that date the shaft was no less than 950 feet deep [Source: Kenneth Brown & Bob Acton, Exploring Cornish Mines, Volume 1. Landfall Publications, 1994]
