The Platters Estatu Batuetako Los Angelesen 1953an sortutako rhythm and blues eta doo wop estiloko abeslari taldea izan zen. The Platters Los Angelesen eman zioten hasiera beraien musika ibilbideari. Hasieran doo wop taldea zen. Ramek The Platters Federal sigilutik atera zuen eta sortzen ari zen Mercury Records enpresarekin lanean jarri zuen. Konpainia horren bidez pop munduarekin lotu zen taldea.
