Sylvester McCoy, benetako izenez Percy James Patrick Kent-Smith, (Dunoon, Argyll eta Bute, 1943ko abuztuaren 20a) Eskoziako aktore bat da, Doctor Who telesailean Zazpigarren Doktorea izateagatik ezaguna dena, 1987 eta 1989 artean interpretatu zuena[1]. 2012 eta 2014 artean egin ziren The Hobbit hiru filmeetan Radagast aztia ere izan zen.

Percy James Patrick Kent-Smith Eskoziako Cowal penintsulako Dunoon herrixkan jaio zen. Ama irlandar katolikoa zuen eta aita ingelesa, baina Kent-Smith jaio baino bi hilabete lehenago hil zuten Bigarren Mundu Gerran[1]. Aitaren familia 17 urte zituela ezagutu zuen[2]. Eskola amaitu ondoren Londresera joan zen aseguru etxe batean lan egitera[3]. Bost urte egin zituen lan horretan Ken Campbell antzerki zuzendariak aurkitu zuen arte[4].
"The Ken Campbell Roadshow" antzerki taldea sona handia hartu zuen "Sylveste McCoy" pertsonaia eginez eta ordutik aurrera izen artistiko bihurtu zuen. Telebistan ere arrakasta izan zuen "Vision On" programan Pepe/Epep pertsonaiarekin, ispilu baten barnean bizi zena. O-Man izan zen Jigsaw saioan, 1979an Dracula filmean Laurence Olivierren antagonista izan zen eta Galesko Opera Nazionalean ere abestu zuen.

1987an Zazpigarren Doktorea bihurtu zen Colin Bakerri erreleboa hartuta[5]. 1989 artean aritu zen Doktore lanetan eta 1990an BBCk egindako inkestan historiako Doktore onena aukeratu zuten. 1996ko Doctor Who filmean ere agertu zen Paul McGann zortzigarren Doktoreari erreleboa emateko[6].
Hasieran umorearen bidetik hartu zuen pertsonaia baina telesailaren zaleak kexatu egin ziren eta ordutik aurrera pertsonaia nabarmen ilundu zen. Zerabilen eskoziar doinuak harrera ona izan zuen.
1999tik aurrera Zazpigarren Doktorea antzezten jarraitu izan du audio dramatan. 2013an telesailaren 50. urteurreneko atal berezian ere agertu zen eta baita 2022ko "The Power of the Doctor" atalean ere[5].

1997an Michael Sams izan zen Beyond Fear filmean eta hainbat antzezlan ere egin zituen. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl eta Eraztunen Jauna filmetarako castingera aurkeztu zen baina ez zuen papera lortu[4], aldiz The Hobbit hiru filmeetan Radagast aztia izan zen[7]. Gandalfen laguna da, basoetako aztia hain zuzen ere.

Agnes Verkaik emaztearekin bi seme izan ditu, Sam eta Joe[8]. Katolizismoan hazi bazen ere gaur egun ateotzat du bere burua.
