David Hume

David Hume (Edinburgh, 1711ko apirilaren 26a - Edinburgh, 1776eko abuztuaren 25a) filosofo, ekonomialari eta historialari eskoziarra izan zen.

Hume John Locke, George Berkeley eta beste batzuekin batera enpirismoaren bultzatzailetzat jotzen da^[1].

Egun bere filosofia lanek ospea eman zioten arren, bere bizitzan historialaritzat jotzen zuten nagusiki; izan ere, sei liburukiek osatutako bere History of England^[2] XVIII. eta XIX. mendeetako bestsellera eta Ingalaterrako historia ezagutzeko liburu nagusia izan zen.

Humeren lanetan John Locke eta George Berkeley enpiristek ez ezik, Pierre Bayle frantziarra edota Isaac Newton, Samuel Clarke, Francis Hutcheson (bere irakaslea zena) eta Joseph Butlerrek ere eragina izan zuten.

XX. mendean, berriz, Humeren filosofia politiko eta ekonomikoak eragin handia izan du tradizio liberalean, batez ere Essays Moral, Political, and Literary bere saiakera idazteagatik.
