Anna Murray Vail (Brooklyn, New York, 1863ko urtarrilaren 7a - Frantzia, 1955eko abenduaren 18a) Estatu Batuetako botanikaria izan zen.[1][2]

New Yorkeko ekialdean jaio zen, David Olyphant Vail eta Cornelia Georgina (Nina) Van Rensselearren lehen alaba.[3] Amaren aldetik, New Yorkeko familia holandar elitistenetako biren ondorengoa zen: Van Rensellaers eta Van Cortlandts. Bere tataraaitona Robert Van Rensselaer jenerala izan zen, Estatu Batuetako iraultzan Ticonderogan borrokatu zena bere amaginarrebaren nebaren agindupean, Philip Schuyler jeneralaren agindupean.[3] Bere ahizpa gazteena, Cornelia, Henry Golden Dearth estatubatuar margolari ospetsuarekin ezkondua zegoen. Bere aita, David Olyphant Vail, Benjamin C. eta Eliza Ann Archer de Vailen semea zen.[4] David O. Vailek Olyphant familiarekin zuen lotura bere amaren aldeko amonaren bidez zen, Ann Mckenzie (1782 - 1857ko azaroaren 5a). Bere lehen senarra Zenon Archer izan zen, 1803an ezkondu zena. Bere alaba Eliza Ann zen, Benjamin Vailekin ezkondu zena. Zenonen heriotzaren ondoren, Ann McKenzie Archer David W.C. Olyphantekin ezkondu zen. David O. Vail "merkatari" gisa katalogatuta dago 1862ko ontzi-manifestu batean, eta Van Rensselaer familiaren historian honela deskribatzen da: "... Anna Murrayk lehen hezkuntza Europan eman zuen, baina 1895erako AEBra itzuli zen. Columbiako Unibertsitatean ikasten ari zela, Nathaniel Lord Britton botanikari eta geologoarekin lan egin zuen, New Yorkeko Lorategi Botanikoaren fundazioa martxan jartzen. Anna Murray Vail-en Cynanchum sp-ren luma eta tinta zirriborroa. Zirriborro hau Vailek egin zuen 1899an New Yorkeko Lorategi Botanikoko liburuzaina zen bitartean.

Frantzian bizi zen bitartean, etxe bat erosi zuen Hericyn. Han eman zituen gainerako urteak, liburuzain lanetan jarraituz itsutasun batek gelditzera behartu zuen arte.[9] Vieux Logisen hil zen 1955eko abenduaren 18an, eta Hericyko udal-hilerrian lurperatuta dago.[10]
