Ekialdeko Eliza ortodoxoak Ekialdeko Eliza Kristauen taldekapena dira, egun mundu guztian 60 milioi jarraitzaile dituzte.[1][2] Talde honek kristologia miafisismikoa jarraitzen du, Nizeako kredoaren tradizio hirutarra zabalduz.[3][4]

Gurtza

Ekialdeko kristau ortodoxoak (Koptoak, Siriarrak eta Indiarrak) Agpeya eta Shehimo bezalako brebiarioak erabiltzen dituzte, ordu kanonikoetan ekialderanzko noranzkoan (Jerusalemera begira) errezatzeko egunean zazpi aldiz. Praktika kristau hau, Jesusen Bigarren agerraldiagatik egiten da, 118:164 salmoan aipatzen den bezala Davidek Jainkoari egunean zazpi aldiz otoi egiten ziolako.[5] Otoitzaren aurretik bere esku eta aurpegiak garbitzen dituzte, Jainkoari beren hoberena erakusteko; gainera, oinetakoak kentzen dituzte. Bestalde, emakumeek otoitzerakoan zapi batez estaltzen dute burua.[6][7][8]

Antolakuntza

Ekialdeko Eliza Ortodoxoa sei eskualdeetako eliza autozefalok osatzen dute, administratiboki erabat independenteak direlarik, baina elkarrekiko garrantzia berarekin.[9][10] Eliza hauetako bakoitzak apezpiku batek aginduriko eparkia edo diozesiak ditu.[11]

Banaketa geografikoa

Erlijioaren Entziklopediaren arabera, Ekialdeko Eliza Ortodoxoa Ekialde Hurbileko ohitura kristau nagusia da; beste ekialdeko tradizioekin batera, Islamaren aurretiazko Kristautasunaren presentzia adierazten du.[33][34]

Erlijio nagusia da Armenian (%94) eta etnikoki armeniarra den Nagorno-Karabakh aitortu gabeko errepublikan (%95).[35]

Etiopian Ekialdeko Ortodoxia gailentzen da (%43,1), Islama (%34,1) eta Protestantismoa (%19,4) atzetik doazelarik. Etiopiako bi gunetan dago zabalduen: Amhara (%82) eta Tigray (%96), Addis Abeba (%75) hiriburuaz gain. Zenbaki gordinak aztertzean, Etiopiako Eliza Ekialdeko Eliza Ortodoxoen artean handiena da, eta bigarrena Eliza Ortodoxoen artean (Errusiar Eliza Ortodoxoaren atzetik).

Eritrean bi erlijio nagusietako bat da (%40);[36] ordea Egipton (%20),[37] Sudanen (%3-5), Sirian (%2-3), Libanoan (%10) eta Keralan (%7)[38] gutxienengoko erlijioa da.

Horrez gain, Turkia eta Iranen (non, Islama erlijio gailena den) Konstantinopolako Patriarkatu Armeniarra (Turkian) eta Armeniar Eliza Apostolikoa (Iranen), minoria kristauaren barnean nagusi dira.[39]
