Bot is messing around

After I fixed a logical error which led to wrong interwiki links created by Alexbot, now TXiKiBoT is messing it up again. It is mixing articles about the person Hermann Schoemann with articles about the destroyer Z 7 Hermann Schoemann. Have a look at this version history http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hermann_Schoemann&action=history . Interwikis to bot-created articles

Hi, my bot (uk:user:RarBot, contributions) creates stubs on french municipalities. Unfortunately, these articles are ignored by interwiki-bots (formely user:MelancholieBot made the job, but it stoped operating). no:Kategori:Tyske delstatsvåpen and sv:Delstatsvapen i Tyskland should not be interwikilinked to en:Category:German coats of arms etc., because the Norweigan and Swedish categories are only on the arms for German states (Länder), not on German arms in general. Your bot is really pissing me off.. You just case more work to other people. You have been notified about this problem multiple times, .fi-wiki should be alphabetically sorted as its real name: Suomi. I have many ocassions that I create an new article and before I am finished adding it PROPERLY to all wikis, your bot is screwing everthing up adding it to wrong places and causing just more work for me to clean up your mess. I understand what you mean. Anyway, is just my bot who does that, or is it pywikipedia? I'm using pywikipedia, and that's what it does by default.

On the other hand, I think sorting depends on each wiki's configuration. Some wikis put English link first, and others put it in the right alphabetical order. I don't know how bots actually work. All I am saying is that some reason your bot is sorting fi wikilinks wrong. And add to that, yours seems to keep eye on all new changes and start adding those links immediately, for this reason I didn't start adding those links from en-wiki, but soon as I added my first iw-link to ar-wiki your bot had already added it to all others before I had a chance to do it myself. So I had to go throught all of them again and move them to a right place. I am sorry, can't help you on those bot settings but I hope you will find a solution for this one. Thanks anyway. Hi. I'm one of the admins on the Icelandic Wikipedia. We're changing our bot policies to have fewer overall bot edits. I.e. we'd like to have less overall interwiki changes. Currently your bot is one of the biggest offenders, it makes around 1400 edits per month. See our bot page for reference.

Bot reestablishing already reverted edits

With de:Bildskalierung I left out some of the interwiki links that are available from linked versions in other languages - only to find a bot adding them the next minute. Now what really annoys me is, that after reverting that, some more minutes later TXiKiBoT shows up to reintroduce exactly the stuff I just reverted. Is it possible to make this bot less stupid? My message is the similar (well, mine was about frwiki). While not an official policy, it's usually bad to just go and edit other people's user pages. A bot should *never* rampage on user pages without the user's permission. Please never, ever do that again :)

Well, I wasn't adding any new interwikis on user namespaces, but just saw that some languages changed the prefix of the user namespace, and my bot was fixing them. Some of the links appeared to be incorrect after these changes on some languages. Anyway, I've now stopped my bot working on the user namespace, and won't do this anymore. Bot unblocked on dewiki. On dewiki all cosmetic changes from cosmetic_changes.py are allowed if the are done together with some more useful edits (like adding/removing interwikis). Changing working namespace prefixes only would be not a useful edit.

But on theses edits [1][2] your bot has also added new interwikis. Working on user namespace on dewiki should not be done without a good reason because it can reduce the acceptability of bots on gerneral. Not all people like bots. Merlissimo 23:43, 23 Urtarrila 2011 (UTC)

Born/Death categories

Hi, i need your help because i do not understand any basque.

My bot creates the Death_anomalies_report on serveral wikis. Yesterday i noticed this interwiki addition of your bot, because you created Kategoria:Jaiotzak urtearen arabera. That is why i changed my bot configuration from a regex pattern to a category tree search using this as root category. But today i got so many hits that i had a closer look:

• Kategoria:Jaiotzak urtearen arabera has interwiki to en:Category:Deaths_by_year
• subcategories e.g. Kategoria:XX. mendeko jaiotzak have an interwiki to en:Category:20th-century_births

This does not make sense. So could you have a closer look at this? My old regex configuration that worked well matched all categories now in Kategoria:Heriotzak urtearen arabera. But this has an interwiki to en:Category:Births by year. Merlissimo 14:07, 11 Otsaila 2011 (UTC)

Please note you are supposed to update regularly when running interwiki services, due to the impact bugs like these have. TXiKiBoT and interwikis for templates

Hello, in French Wikipedia we quite often transclude templates' documentation from a « /Documentation » subpage, and this subpage shall also contain categories and interwikis (in order to reduce edits of templates themselves). So, your bot's edits like this one or this one are incorrect, note that the interwikis are duplicated. I know it may be hard to handle the case of interwikis gotten by transclusion, so if you cannot handle it it may be better you simply skip Template (aka Modèle) namespace. Espero que teneis una comunicación fluida entre vosotros y que si no puedes venir, podrás decírselo a todos los otros, y tendremos al menos uno de vosotros (Amical pagará los gastos del viaje, del alojamiento y de las dietas de los que vengan si no son demasiados).
